About
Wearable Sculpture for Men
Bold designs for men, inspired by 20th Century British sculpture, art and architecture.
Background
I first began jewellery making after my Mother died. She was very artistic and expressed herself though many forms, including jewellery design, and I loved wearing the cufflinks she made. Learning to make jewellery has been a wonderful way to feel connected to her.
As I learnt, I found that there were so many possibilities to explore around form, texture, light and shade. I began my journey, and increasingly crossed the boundary between design and sculpture.
Design Philosophy
I have always had a love of mid-century design, and would often buy vintage cufflinks. These designs from the 50's to the 70's were just a pure expression of design and aesthetics and were so bold and timeless. As male fashion became more tame, so jewellery design for men became very timid and basic. My aim is to revive the spirit and ambition of the modernists and brutalists in designs that work for today.
